BLM Conservation AwardsConservation Awards

The BLM annually awards four conservation awards, as follows: (Click on link for nomination procedures)

The BLM awards are presented annually at the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference (held in March) in recognition of outstanding contributions. Awards are based on the previous fiscal year accomplishments.

Please submit your annual award nominations electronically to Frank Quamen (fquamen@blm.gov), Division Chief, Division of Wildlife Conservation, Aquatics and Environmental Protection, by Friday, December 31.

Wildlife Conservation Partner Awards

The BLM also promotes recognition of our staff through awards offered by our external conservation partners. These awards are presented annually or biennially from our various conservation partners to recognize people and/or projects that promote their various conservation efforts. Due to the variability of the external award procedures, this Information Bulletin simply provides information on the numerous awards available for BLM staff. We encourage agency officials to nominate BLM staff for these awards, which include the:

  • Mule Deer Foundation Mule Deer/Black-Tailed Deer Conservation Award
  • Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Elk Conservation Award
  • National Wild Turkey Federation Making Tracks Award
  • Western Division of the American Fisheries Society Riparian Challenge Award
  • Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Alison Haskell Award
  • Western Agencies Sage and Sharp-tailed Grouse Committee Robert Patterson Award
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Recovery Champions
  • Partners in Flight (multiple bird conservation awards)

We strongly encourage the submissions of nominations for each of these internal and external awards. Every day, BLM employees are conducting innovative, important, and effective conservation efforts; please help us in recognizing and celebrating these achievements.

Please direct questions about the BLM awards to Daryl Ratajczak, Wildlife Biologist (dratajczak@blm.gov).
