Bureau of Land Management Conservation Project Award
Award Description
This award is presented annually to recognize development and implementation of a BLM project with outstanding conservation accomplishments for fish, wildlife and/or native plants and their habitat on public lands, and/or facilitates their use, enjoyment or appreciation. The project can be at either a local, regional, or national level.
Nomination Criteria
Emphasis will be given to projects that have demonstrated unique or innovative approaches that promotes public understanding of cooperative conservation; work at a watershed or regional scale, are multi-year and scope, involve creative or multiple partnerships; have high conservation value, and meet BLM priorities.
Nominations/Submission Procedure
Nomination package should include:
- Name and location of project
- Title and contact points of key BLM personnel responsible for project
- Contact points of nominators
- Summary of project accomplishment and significance for wildlife, fish, and/or native plants and their habitats.
- Description of how the project strengthened interagency coordination and provides an example of interagency collaboration to benefit species and habitats.
Please limit your submission to two pages. Please submit no more than one nomination for this award from your State. Nominations are accepted from State Directors, other Agencies, Professional Societies, and Non-Governmental Organizations. Nominations must be submitted to Frank Quamen, Division Chief, Division of Wildlife Conservation, Aquatics and Environmental Protection (fquamen@blm.gov) no later than Friday, December 31.
Award Ceremony
Awards are presented to the recipient at the North American Wildlife & Natural Resources Conference (held in March).
