Museum Collections

** Under Construction **

BLM manages more than 12 million artifacts and specimens recovered from significant cultural and paleontological sites and localities on public lands. These museum collections are generated from research projects and regulatory compliance work for proposed land-use activities and are managed in three BLM curation centers and 170 non-BLM museums and university repositories. BLM’s museum program ensures that these important artifacts and specimens are prepared for long-term care and preservation in a manner consistent with Departmental and BLM policy and professional museum standards and practices, and encourages research, education, and other uses of these collections for present and future generations.

NOTE: Materials available from these pages are contributed by BLM staff. Expect the collection to continue growing in time to reflect the most current information available.
