SCIENCE IN THE BLM
National Science Committee
The National Science Committee (NSC) is at the helm of implementing the national science implementation strategy, titled “Advancing Science in the BLM.” The NSC meets quarterly and reports biannually to the BLM Executive Leadership Team. The primary objectives of the NSC are to:
-
Advise and make recommendations to executive leadership on science funding priorities.
-
Develop policies and procedures that integrate scientific knowledge into decisionmaking.
-
Facilitate the development of technical references, tools, and databases that communicate science results to front-line managers and staff.
-
Promote science management partnerships by coordinating science activities and maintaining an interface with external partners.
The National Science Committee frequently interacts with the Core Science Forum to facilitate horizontal and vertical communication, seek input on NSC activities and products, and understand the emerging science-related issues and concerns of staff and managers.
