Published from Fall 1987 through 2007, the journal Arctic Research of the United States was created for people and organizations interested in learning about US government-financed Arctic research activities. It was published by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee and in cooperation with the the US Arctic Research Commission.

WHAT IS A MOVING WALL?

Some publishers set a "moving wall" to limit access to recent issues of a journal. The moving wall is the time period between the latest issue available as full text and the most recently published issue of a journal, expressed in the number of years. The current year is not counted when calculating the moving wall. For example, if the current year is 2017, a journal with a 5-year moving wall will be available through the year 2011. Issues within the moving wall period generally have tables of content and abstracts available.

COPYRIGHT ADVISORY

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
