Science in Practice Portal

Devoted to reporting on research supported by the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station, established in 1888. The experiment station supports research in a broad range of agricultural and related areas, including plant and animal sciences, nutrition, food safety, agricultural and natural resource economics, dairy science, rural sociology, irrigation engineering, and soil science.

Published by The Waterbird Society, the journal's title was changed from Colonial Waterbirds in 1999 to reflect the Society’s expanded focus on all aquatic birds and their habitats. Waterbirds publishes results of scientific research with papers on the biology, conservation, and techniques of study of the world’s waterbirds including seabirds, wading birds, shorebirds, and waterfowl.

Publishes papers that contribute significantly to the scientific literature and that are useful and accessible to professional and amateur field ornithologists. Topics include distribution, migration, status, identification, geographic variation, conservation, behavior, ecology, population dynamics, habitat requirements, the effects of pollution, and techniques for censusing, sound recording, and photographing birds in the field.

Publishes articles, notes, and book reviews pertaining to the biological natural history of western North America. Each issue treats diverse taxa from the perspectives of various disciplines, including ecology, systematics, anatomy, physiology, and modeling. Formerly Great Basin Naturalist

Publishes original papers of interest to Western Section members in the field of wildlife ecology and management, habitat management, conservation biology, and related natural resource topics.  Formerly known as Transactions of the Western Section of The Wildlife Society
